US-based AI firm opens India’s first office at Technopark

US-headquartered Armada, a pioneer in Edge Computing and Artificial Intelligence (AI) products, has opened its maiden office in the country at the nation’s first IT park, Technopark. The company aims to leverage the talent pool in the ecosystem to deliver unique solutions for industries worldwide.


Minister for Industries, Law & Coir, Shri P. Rajeev, inaugurated the company’s office today. Founding Chief Technology Officer of Armada, Shri Pradeep Nair, presided over the function.
Principal Secretary (Industries), Shri A. P. M. Mohammed Hanish; MD (KSIDC), Director of Industries & Commerce and Secretary (I&PRD), Shri S. Harikishore; CEO of Technopark, Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd.); KSIDC Executive Director, Shri Hari Krishnan R; VP of Engineering, Armada, Shri Anish Swaminathan; Head of India R&D, Armada, Shri Sarath Chandran; and other officials of Technopark were also present on the occasion.

Shri Rajeev congratulated Armada on opening its first R&D centre in India. The Minister noted that the company can leverage the potential of the state capital which is the hub of life sciences, space and defence technologies.  


Shri Rajeev added that the team of Armada can act as ambassadors of state’s IT ecosystem and they can bring more MNCs to Kerala. In his address, Shri Hanish said state’s ecosystem has tremendous potential for investment, besides offering opportunities. 


Shri Pradeep Nair considered several locations in India before choosing Thiruvananthapuram, a decision influenced by the presence of top engineering schools in Kerala. His vision is to enable budding engineering talent in Kerala to collaborate with the best of engineering talent from Silicon Valley. Additionally, he aims to provide opportunities for senior IT professionals from Kerala, who are currently working in other states, to return to their home state and lead the work on cutting edge technology products.

Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd.) said apart from offering the best connectivity, the capital city is strategically relevant as it boasts of a wonderful ecosystem for sectors including maritime and space. The CEO said Technopark will extend all the support to Armada for scaling up along with the other 490-plus companies at the IT Park. 


Armada’s flagship products include the Edge, a full-stack modular data centre solution that brings industry-leading compute to remote sites in a ruggedized, mobile form factor, and EdgeAI applications.


Recently, Armada announced a $40 million funding round led by M12 (Microsoft's Venture Fund), raising its total to over $100 million. Armada has deep collaborations with Starlink and recently signed partnerships with Halliburton, Aveva, Skydio, and many others to enhance its offerings and distribute Armada’s solutions globally. Technopark, with its state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities, continues to attract global firms, solidifying its status as a preferred destination for companies worldwide.
