Outreach to promote workspace for differently abled persons at Technopark

CEO Technopark, Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd.) inaugurating the Unified Voices event at Technopark by lighting the auspicious lamp.

Thiruvananthapuram, July 24: Calling for a major shift in the perception to make workplaces inclusive, Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd), CEO, Technopark emphasised upon exploring employment of differently abled as a CSR initiative by IT companies by making work space conducive for people with disabilities.


Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd) was speaking after inaugurating the cultural event, ‘Unified Voices,’ organized by KINFRA Park-based Different Art Centre (DAC) of Magic Planet, at Technopark here last evening.  Shri Gopinath Muthukad, Executive Director of Different Art Centre was also present.


The event showcased talents of differently abled children, who gave a scintillating performance of dance, singing, magic and mimicry, besides displaying their creativity in painting at exhibition area. 
Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd) said promoting social inclusion of people with disabilities can generate immense goodwill and drive businesses for companies.  


“Companies in Technopark are doing quite a lot of CSR activities which are more related to product-based and some are service-based activities, but employment of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) would be a different dimension of CSR activity and can be seriously thought about,” the CEO suggested. 


Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd) said if the companies are able to absorb one person in the organization, it can work miracles. “We can balance our fast paced professional life with social inclusion of PwDs in companies. It might need a little tweaking of job profiles and working hours for them and efforts in reducing physical and mental barriers in the organisation. The results will be immense and in the longer run will empower our organisational culture,” the CEO said.
Noting that it was an evening of mesmerizing  performances by the differently abled, Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd) praised the efforts made by the entire fraternity of DAC. 


Shri.Muthukad said, it was a wonderful opportunity for the DAC children and such events have important role in promoting social inclusion of these children. We are really thankful to the Technopark team, especially Sanjeev sir , for this blessed evening.


A special exhibition titled ‘Products by Charisma’ displaying artworks, crafts and other creative output by the parents of differently abled individuals was also part of the programme. 


DAC is a subsidiary of Magic Planet, India’s first magic theme park located at KINFRA Park Kazhakkoottam in the city.
