Job Summary:

Feathersoft, a ThinkBio.ai company, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced PhD Agronomy Specialist to join our Agricultural Technology Software division in India. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between agronomic science and software development, ensuring our solutions effectively address the needs and challenges of the seeds business. You will leverage your deep understanding of seed production, crop management, and agricultural data to contribute to the design, development, testing, and implementation of our software products for our clients. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate complex agronomic concepts into practical software functionalities.

Responsibilities:

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the primary agronomic expert for our software solutions targeted at the seeds business, encompassing areas such as breeding program management, seed production planning, quality control, supply chain optimization, and farmer engagement.

  • Requirements Gathering & Analysis: Collaborate closely with product managers, software developers, and clients (including Syngenta) to understand their agronomic needs, challenges, and workflows related to seed development, production, and distribution.

  • Solution Design & Development: Contribute to the design and development of software features and functionalities that are scientifically sound and practically applicable to the seeds industry. This includes defining data models, algorithms, and user interfaces.

  • Data Analysis & Interpretation: Analyze agricultural data (e.g., trial data, environmental data, production data) to derive meaningful insights that can be incorporated into our software solutions and provide value to our clients.

  • Testing & Validation: Participate in the testing and validation of software features to ensure their accuracy, reliability, and alignment with agronomic principles and client requirements.

  • Client Engagement & Support: Provide agronomic expertise during client presentations, demonstrations, and implementation phases. Offer technical support and training to clients on the effective use of our software solutions.

  • Industry Research & Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in agronomic research, seed technology, and digital agriculture. Identify opportunities for incorporating new scientific knowledge and innovative approaches into our software products.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Effectively communicate complex agronomic concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including software developers, product managers, sales, and marketing.

  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Develop and maintain clear and concise documentation related to the agronomic aspects of our software solutions. Share knowledge and best practices within the team.

Preferred Skills

Qualifications:

  • Education: PhD in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Seed Science and Technology, or a closely related agricultural discipline.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in agronomic research, seed production, or technical roles within the agricultural industry, preferably with exposure to the seeds business.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of agronomic principles, crop physiology, soil science, plant pathology, and entomology, with a specific focus on seed production and quality.

  • Experience with experimental design, data collection, statistical analysis, and interpretation of agricultural data.

  • Familiarity with agricultural software and digital tools is a plus.

  • Basic understanding of database concepts and data management is desirable.

  • Proficiency in using statistical software packages (e.g., R, SAS) is an advantage.

  • Soft Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

  • Strong client-facing and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and challenges.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in one or more regional Indian languages is an advantage.

  • Willingness to Travel: Willingness to travel within India and potentially internationally for client meetings, conferences, and project implementations.
