GTech’s Promo Marathon held at Technopark

The Group of Technology Companies (GTech), the industry body representing IT companies in Kerala, organized a Christmas-themed mini marathon here at Technopark, with CEOs and IT professionals joining hands to bolster the Kerala Government’s ‘No to Drugs’ campaign.

The event served as a promotional precursor to the state’s largest marathon, the ‘GTech Kerala Marathon,’ scheduled for February 9 at Technopark, Trivandrum.

Shri Sunil Thomas, CSO of Technopark along with others present at the event, flagged off the five-kilometre run, which saw participation from several IT company CEOs and over 100 tech professionals from various firms.

 “Technopark, the largest employment generator for the youth, proudly stands with the GTech Kerala Marathon 2025. Championing the inspiring message of embracing fitness and advocating for a ‘Drug-Free Kerala,’ the marathon symbolizes a collective movement for positive change. This initiative aligns seamlessly with Technopark’s values as we celebrate 35 years of innovation, growth, and fostering harmony at work,” said Col. Sanjeev Nair (Retd), CEO of Technopark.

Shri VK Mathews, Chairman of GTech and Executive Chairman of IBS Software, emphasized the importance of raising awareness about the growing issue of drug and substance abuse in Kerala.

“It inflicts severe damage on society. It’s crucial for responsible individuals to unite and send a powerful message of ‘No to Drugs’ and ‘Yes to Fitness.’ We must transform campaigns like this into a widespread public movement to create a drug-free Kerala,” he urged.

Prominent industry leaders present included Shri Prasadu Varghese, Vice Chairman, GTech & CEO, Ospyn Technologies; Shri Hariprasad, Vice President and MD, H & R Block; Shri Tony Joseph, CEO, Kennedys IQ India; Shri Robin Panicker & Shri Mathew Cherian, Directors from SEQATO; and Shri Rony Sebastian, CEO, Softnotions Technologies Pvt Ltd.

The ‘GTech Kerala Marathon’ grand finale is expected to attract over 7,000 runners from various backgrounds, transcending age, geography, gender, and fitness levels. It will feature three categories: the Half Marathon (21.1km), the 10km run, and the Fun Run (3km – 5km), encouraging participants to challenge themselves while supporting a meaningful cause.
