1. Technopark Business Incubation Centre- (T-BIC)

Through T-BIC, Technopark helps entrepreneurs to transform their innovative ideas into commercial successes by providing facilities starting from ready-to-move-in office space to mentoring, business consulting and advisory services.

Technopark Technology Business Incubator (T-TBI), a joint initiative of Technopark, Trivandrum and the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, is avidly helping the technology business start-ups with all the necessary resources and supports they need to evolve and grow as a ripened business. Technopark TBI maintains networking with almost all organizations involved in promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Research Centre’s. T-TBI operates in close co-operation with national R&D Centre’s and premier academic institutions, Engineering Colleges/Universities in Kerala, to provide assistance to entrepreneurs in identifying technologies or undertake technology development activities. T-TBI provides entrepreneurs with technical experts, specialized equipment, skill development courses, seed capital assistance etc.

3. National Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (NCIIE)

NCIIE works as a training arm of T-TBI is conducting Courses and Seminars on Entrepreneurship. Implemented jointly with IIITM-K and the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) and with funding assistance from NSTEDB, Department of Science &Technology, NCIIE develops appropriate models of entrepreneurship development suited to the socio-economic and cultural environment of the province. NCIIE also offer entrepreneurship courses through its e-learning platform www.ttbi.smartguruji.com in association with its network partner Smart Guruji Learning Systems.

4. Technopark Software Engineering Competency Centre (TSECC)

TSECC provides an eco system that nurtures and supports entrepreneurs and offers Software Testing and Certification. This consultancy centre is set up in Technopark in association with IBM Rational Software Corporation. TSECC provides free access to software engineering tools combined with expert handholding by professionals in the concerned area. TSECC is the first facility of its kind in the world providing high end software testing tool facility that is unaffordable for business start ups and MSMEs. Technical support is provided by SE Mentor P Ltd – an incubated initiative of T-TBI.

 

  • TSECC Software Engineering business Training Programmes

 

NCIIE and TSECC are jointly conducting workshops for business start-ups, students and academic research community as well as IT entrepreneurs for enhancing their Software engineering competency. The programme focuses on bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical implementation of learning software development through easy access of software engineering tools, for the beginners in their respective field.

 

  • TSECC Software Certification Centre

 

TSECC currently offers a software testing facility in association with the rational software to provide high end software testing tool facility that is unaffordable for a business startup and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in their early stages. TSECC Software Certification Centre which offer software product certifications and a Software Quality Testing Lab also operate for the benefit of emerging companies both inside and outside Technopark.

5. Technopark TBI Project Facilitation Centre (TPFC)

TPFC provides project facility to students. As part of Industry - University Interaction, students in their final year of study (MBA / MCA / BTech / BSc Computer Science) have been doing their projects at Technopark.

In addition to providing quality infrastructure to units within Technopark, one of the main objective has been to undertake Research & Development activities and build a workable model of technology based Entrepreneurship in Kerala and to accelerate the up-gradation of research and development facilities in Universities and institutions in Kerala to make them capable of carrying out leading edge research and to encourage and support production units to carry out continuous research for developing new products and services.

To meet this objective Technopark has been providing infrastructure support like computers and space, training and guidance to students who wish to undergo project training in Technopark campus.

Aspiring applicants can enquire in person or over mail/phone about the projects offered by Technopark and enroll themselves for the project by fulfilling the necessary procedures. A registration fee of Rs. 100/- will be charged for doing the project

6. Technopark- TePP Outreach Centre (T-TUC)

Works as an Outreach Centre for the TePP programme of DSIR. DSIR has so far funded 31 Innovators through Technopark TUC.

Technopreneur Promotion Programme (TePP)

Technopreneur Promotion Programme (TePP) is a novel support mechanism initiated by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India, to tap the innovative potential of entrepreneurial citizens of India. The objective is to promote individual innovators through support mechanism at various stages to become technology entrepreneurs.

Technopark, Trivandrum, being one of the Outreach Centre’s, identify the genuine innovators of the region, assisting them to frame out their novel ideas into technical proposals that are to be funded by DSIR, mentoring and networking them with our ‘Technology Angels’ and ‘Business Angels’, and transforming them into successful ‘TECHNOPRENEURS’ of the country. The TePP Outreach Centre of Technopark, Kerala, has been spreading this spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship since 2007 among the true innovators and young talents of the State and the Region.

7. Technopark Technology Commercialization Facilitation Agency (T-TCFA)

The T-TCFA is essentially a Technology Transfer Centre wherein T-TBI is helping the innovators not only to develop there prototypes but also to go into the commercial phase, thus to become Technopreneurs. Technopark TBI houses a centre of the Technology Commercialization Facility Agency under the TREMAP (Technology Refinement and Marketing Programme) of TIFAC (Technology Information, Forecasting Assessment Council). Most of our good innovators lack the necessary skill needed to become a good businessman. The TCFA bridges this gap by finding out the appropriate buyers for the indegeniously developed new technologies to commercial world and facilitating technology transfer. The centre has a system for early assessment of technology’s marketability as well as possesses the required financial, marketing and operational skills to link it to the market. The recognition as a TCFA further strengthens Technopark’s standing and reputation as enabler for new businesses.

8. Technology Angels

 

Technopark is a TePP Outreach Centre (T-TUC) of Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR) of the Government of India. The TUC helps the young innovators by providing Innovation Fund through TePP funding for each stage of evolution of their idea, namely support for making prototypes of their products, research and development of their products, patenting and finally commercialization of the idea.

T-TUC is having more than 54 Technology Angels who are specialized in areas of physics, automobile, mechanical engineering, biomedical, bioinformatics, chemical engineering, computer science, electrical and electronics engineering, cryogenic engineering, dentistry, energy management, entomology, geology, food science, marine technology, medical electronics, metallurgy, power electronics, oncology, ship technology and zoology. The services of these angels can be utilized for helping the entrepreneurs admitted to the MSME Incubator.

9. E-learning-www.ttbi.smartguruji.com

Smart Guruji E-learning Platform (www.ttbi.smartguruji.com) - of e-learning courses in Entrepreneurship Development and Software Engineering in association with Techno FIRST learning Services (TFL) and SE Mentor.

 

10. Strategic Business Planning and Mentoring Centre (SBPMC)

 

As an incubator Technopark TBI (T-TBI) guides the incubatees to choose the right type of finance. Preparation is the key when looking for any type of investment - from securing a bank loan to attracting a business angel or a VC. A centre to make the companies investment ready is thus an immediate requirement. The Strategic Business Planning and Mentoring Centre (SBPMC) takes care of all these matters. The SBPMC assists the TBI Companies in areas like Scale up, Strategic/ Management Consulting & Research support to Seed Stage Companies, Creating and managing diversified entrepreneurs, Offers an Ecosystem consisting of Angel network, Seed Fund, Venture Capitalists and provides overall assistance in key business issues.

 

11. Pre-incubation

 

Technopark TBI is receiving a large number of enquiries from first generation entrepreneurs. These budding entrepreneurs are admitted into the pre-incubation facility of Technopark TBI where they actually experiment with their business making skills. They require handholding and mentoring during this vulnerable phase which is provided by the Mentors.

Pre-incubation facilities are offered to premature entrepreneurs as well as students who wish to launch their Technology ventures through T-TBI. Pre-incubatees are mentored and nurtured to start their own venture in Technopark TBI

 

12. Virtual Incubation

 

Virtual TBI’ is a new concept of incubation practiced by Technopark-TBI in which the respective college shall offer the infrastructure facilities needed to incubate the students start ups. This is done with the active support of the Engineering Colleges & Management Schools. The startup company becomes the ‘Virtual Incubatee’ of Technopark-TBI and the College, an Extension Centre of T-TBI. The infrastructure and R & D facilities for this are offered by the college Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC) and other support facilities shall be offered by the Technopark-TBI.

 

 

13. Co-Incubation

 

T-TBI has initiated this programme with the objective of incubating a start-up simultaneously in two or more TBI’s in the country so that the incubates have access to each other’s expertise,business networks, resources and tool needed to make their ventures successful. The Co-Incubation networks enables the entrepreneur to access all the expertise available to develop orimprove new products / services; bring them to market faster and cheaper in line with international standards. Thus a Co-incubation network will help to ensure that in future the incubators will generate more successful global companies. This will make the incubators act the effective tool for economic development. TBI have been successful in co-incubating our first virtual incubate, Innoz Technologies Pvt. Ltd. In CIIE, Ahmedabad (Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India) for the i-accelerator programme. Similarly, we have incubated Zesty beans Technologies Pvt. Ltd. from NIT-TBI, Calicut, Kerala, India and Akros Techlabs Pvt. Ltd. a start up from IC2 Institute, University of Texas, Austin, U.S.A.

15. Video Conferencing Facility

 

Technopark TBI houses a full fledged Video Conferencing Facility which is installed with the support of Department of Science & Technology, NSTEDB, and Government of India. This is part of the Connect ONE programme of NSTEDB, DST. The objective of the Connect ONE programme is to create an Online Network of Entrepreneurs, essentially by providing video conferencing facility for sharing of resources between various TBIs.

 

16. Seed Funding Assistance

Technopark is helping the incubatees by offering Seed Fund with the support of National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB). A Soft loan offered at 6% interest rate per annum with 1 year moratorium to Technology Start ups in T-TBI. The Seed Fund primarily supports the incubation companies in the areas of Product Development, Testing & Trials, Test Marketing, Mentoring, Professional consultancy), IPR Issues and Manpower for day to day operations.

The incubatees with Innovative projects are also encouraged to seek TePP funding from DSIR or NABARD Rural Innovation Funding

 

17. TDB Seed Fund Support

Technopark TBI is hosting a Seed fund under the scheme “Seed Support System for Start-ups in Incubators” of the Technology Development Board, Development of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. The purpose of the TDB Seed Fund is to provide technology driven start-up with the much needed early stage financial support for deserving ideas / technologies requiring up-scaling and related work and will be offered to start-up units incubated. Quantum of financial assistance to the incubated entrepreneur

  • Maximum: Rs. 25 lakhs

19. Innovation Lab

 

Innovation Lab Kochi is a Pre-incubation facility of Technopark TBI. Mr. Arun Balachandran is the CEO of Innovation Lab. Innovation Lab offers an opportunity to innovative thinkers to establish their ventures with world-class infrastructure, technology and support system. To develop, nurture and support the Entrepreneurs, Innovation Lab offers complete support. Right from Infrastructure, Fund to Technical support, all are provided under one roof at this pre-incubation facility of T-TBI.

 

20. Indian Telecom Innovation Hub – Technology Business Incubator (ITIH – TBI)

 

A PPP (Public Private Partnership) Model TBI approved by NSTEDB, DST, Govt. of India partnered by Technopark TBI and MobME Wireless Solutions. ITIH-TBI offers world class work environment for startups focused on the Telecom Value Added Services (VAS) and Internet. Started operation from KINFRA Hi-Tech Park at Kalamassery, the ITIH-TBI will leverage and combine the best resources through Technopark TBI and MobME Wireless Solutions to achieve the vision that there will be a day when the sun sets in the Valley; it will rise to see the Dawn of a Silicon Coast in India.

 

21. T-TBI Extension Centre

 

Extension Centre’s of T-TBI are set up in the Engineering Colleges and B Schools across the state of Kerala. This is done with the active support of the management, faculty and students of the Engineering Colleges & Management Schools. The startup company becomes the “Virtual Incubates” of Technopark-TBI and the IEDC of the College will host the Extension Centre of

T-TBI.

 

22. Tech Top

 

National Innovation Competition –TechTop is an Annual Engineering Innovative Project Contest, for identifying and recognizing the best innovative talents from among the students of Engineering Colleges/Institutes of India. The contest organized jointly by Degree Controls, Inc., Technopark TBI Trivandrum, National Research Development Corporation (NRDC, Govt. of India), Executive Knowledge Lines monthly and IEEE will have the exhibition of successful models

 

23. Entrepreneurs Resource Centre (ERC)

 

The ERC creates an entrepreneurial ecosystem in and around Technopark. The ERC will be targeting entrepreneurs, researchers, technology innovators, IP & technology commercialization professionals and venture investors etc.

 

24. Technopreneur Workshops Series

The Workshop is intended to create awareness on Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship in the campuses of Academic Institutions across Central Kerala. The inspiration behind this initiative has been to exploit and effectively convert the skills and expertise within the institutes to create entrepreneurial ventures from the student groups. Technopark TBI has initiated the process of establishing Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Cells (IEDC’s) in Engineering Colleges and Management Schools across the state .The student start ups evolved out through this EDC’s is supported by establishing Virtual Incubation Centre of Technopark TBI in the campuses. Technopark TBI is acting as a Regional TBI with extensive networking with all the Engineering colleges & Management Institutes in the state working with the objective of promoting Innovation & Incubation on the campuses and thereby helping the students to establishing Business Start ups .The first generation entrepreneurs need various support services like marketing, business facilitation, technical expertise, preparation of business plan, and resources for financing and business management during their start-up phase to enhance their prospects of survival. Incubators and similar mechanisms are intended to provide a conducive atmosphere and a range of critical support services and needed facilities to nurture and support a start-up.

25. “I am an Entrepreneur” campaign (Annual)

Flagged off from Technopark Trivandrum, “I am an Entrepreneur” campaign has taken the state by storm. “I am an Entrepreneur” a campaign, initiated by Technopark-TBI/TUC, supported by Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), executed by Techno FIRST Magazine and sponsored by AIRCEL was flagged off by Dr. Shashi Tharoor on August 21, 2010.

The objective of this campaign is to ignite the young minds in the Engineering colleges and Business Schools, changing the Entrepreneurship climate of the state and get more innovators and find out more students start-ups right from college campuses. This campaign is carried in a motivational video which shares the experiences of some of the very successful entrepreneurs and visionaries in our state and which aspires to inspire the students to take up on new projects on their own. It will be an informative and inspiring video on Entrepreneurship and Incubation Awareness. The video contains inspirational talks from various personalities, including Mr. Kris Gopalakrishnan (CEO, Infosys), as a successful entrepreneur from Kerala, and Dr.Shashi Tharoor (Hon. MP from Kerala), as a well known visionary.

26. 'INSPIRE' programme (Incubation Network Support Programme for Idea Review and Enrichment)

Technopark TBI with the support of Technopark and GTECH launched ‘INSPIRE’ Programme on May 6, 2010 at Technopark for the Small and Medium companies. Technopark TBI is associating with GTECH in this programme as part of “INSPIRE”, the Network Support Programme for Idea Review and Enrichment of the Incubation Companies in the Technopark Technology Business Incubator. The sessions will be aimed at building competitiveness among the Micro, Small and Medium enterprises operating from TBIs, Technopark and other government owned parks in the State. The small and medium companies that were incubated here in Kerala have played a critical role in catapulting the state into a global IT hub. These MSMEs provided unique business models and insights on creating new jobs and businesses in the State.

The INSPIRE Forum will add value to the start ups and small and medium companies. This programme would provide an avenue for these companies to benefit from

The TBI hopes that this will definitely enrich your ideas and lead your business ventures into successful enterprises in future.

27. National Faculty Development Programme (FDP) in Entrepreneurship

NCIIE in association with EDII and DST, Government of India is conducting Faculty Development and Training Programmes for the Technical Institutions. The FDPs are conducted on a conducted on a periodical basis either in house (in the college premises) or residential (in Technopark).

28. Technology Idea Germinator (TIG)

To spot and nurture students with creativity , innovative mind set and entrepreneurial attitude at very early stages Technopark TBI envisages to establish linkages with the School Science Clubs. For this T-TBI established Technology Idea Germinators on a Network platform for schools/polytechnic/VHSE students of Kerala State. It is also planned to associate the TIG with the IT@ School and the Directorate of Public Instructions (DPI), Govt. of Kerala.
