Team Lead/Manager ETL (7-10 YRS)

Position Overview

 

The ETL Engineer - TL is responsible for innovative design, development, and implementation of Business Intelligence dashboards and reports using the MS BI stack/Tableau that meets documented business requirements. The TL will be responsible for supporting schema, reports, templates and dashboards implemented in the Navigant environment. Performs at the highest technical level of all phases of ETL development activities. Directs a team of ETL engineers to ensure that assignments align with business priorities. As part of the role they will be responsible for implementing data dashboards to all levels of the organization.

 

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Design and deploy data table structures, forms, reports, and queries

  • Query, analyze, and profile data from source to target to assess data integrity gaps are identified in order to meet the business requirements of the reports

  • Designs, develops, tests, and implements software programs, interfaces, reports and controls in accordance with best practices.

  • Modify and enhance existing reports and dashboards to meet ongoing operational needs.

  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports

  • Develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality

  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets

  • Manage the data model, data architecture, design & development for availability, upgrades, maintenance, performance and security of the Database infrastructure

  • Work collaboratively with business unit partners to assess reporting needs and solutions, and implement a strategy for continuous improvement of the historical reporting, analytics and dashboards

  • Analyze large customer data sets using a variety of database query and visualization tools.

  • Deploy analytic models within the various self-service reporting systems and environments

  • Develop, enhance and maintain large data sets processed through the MS BI stack.

  • Design and develop complex ETL packages utilizing MS SSIS.

  • Design and develop complex MS SSRS reports/Tableau

  • Architect new and enhance existing data models to meet business and technical requirements.

  • Create and maintain stored procedures.

  • Design and develop MS SSAS cubes.

  • Assist with performance tuning especially related to SSIS and SSRS run times.

  • Identify inefficiencies in current databases and investigate solutions.

  • Functions as technical architect and Subject Matter Expert (SME) on enterprise related Database systems

  • Development and maintenance of the database stored procedures, views and functions for applications.

  • Creation and maintenance of technical documentation.

  • Development and maintenance of Data Warehouse.

  • Designs or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering Database availability, capacity, operating schedules, and business results.

  • Developing architectural and logical design documentation and periodically reviewing completeness or response to audit or business requirement changes.

  • Build and integrate reporting system (Tableau) for ad-hoc queries and business dashboards

  • SSIS Data Flow Error Handling

 

 

 

Troubleshooting

 

 

 

  • Stays current with the Database ETL and BI technology advances to enable production support and incident resolution that meets service level agreements.

  • Interfaces with IT disciplines, vendors and professional services providers to ensure service level achievement.

 

Additional Responsibilities

 

  • Provide technical mentorship and coaching for junior members of the ETL team, modeling and instituting ETL development best practices including, but not limited to, source control, test automation, coding standards, documentation standards, etc.

  • Create high-quality Business Intelligence dashboards and reports by conducting peer design/code reviews and developing automated test cases.

  • Responsible for achieving project budget, schedule and functional objectives.

  • Produces work plans in support of project deliverables.

Requirements

 

  • Engineering/Science graduate with 8 to 10 years’ experience as Database Developer

  • Expert knowledge of: MSSQL, NoSQL Server.

  • Experience extracting and manipulating data from relational databases with advanced SQL stored procedures.

  • Experience working in any of the enterprise class BI, ETL and Reporting tools like SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)/Tableau/Power BI/SAS BI/ SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)/ Informatica /Pentaho, etc.

  • Experience extracting and manipulating data from relational databases with advanced SQL, stored procedures.

  • Experience in coding advanced SQL queries, ETL automation, and stored procedures to support business inquiries

  • Good Experience in Tableau Projects. Requirement gathering, data modeling scripting,  developing and testing dashboards using Tableau

  • Experience with system development lifecycle methodologies, deliverables and controls

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must have experience working in an MNC with diverse and geographically dispersed team.

  • Experience and knowledge of service oriented architecture preferred.

  • Microsoft Database certifications
