German Consul General visits Technopark

H.E. Dr Ingo Karsten, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Bangalore visited Technopark Campus today.  This was Dr Karsten's first visit to Kerala after taking over as Consul General in Bangalore responsible for Karnataka and Kerala.  Mr Mervin Alexander, CEO welcomed Dr Karsten and briefly explained the activities.  Mr M Vasudevan, Senior Manager (Business Development) made a detailed presentation on Technopark.  Mr Rakesh Gupta, Managing Director, Allianz Cornhill-India, opened up the meeting saying that Technopark was a hidden treasure few years back and Allianz has been one of the earliest companies who discovered it.  Now major MNCs are moving into the Campus and is still considered a valuable treasure.

Dr Karsten said he had very good meetings with the Hon'ble Chief Minister and other officials and he would be very happy to speed-up, deepen and expand business co-operation between Germany and Kerala and the areas of interests would be Energy, Renewable Energy, Waste Management, Infrastructure development and Information Technology.  Dr Karsten mentioned that  the German Consulate in Bangalore is responsible for business support to German companies and felt that German companies were initially looking at Tier I cities in India and now because of sky-rocketing of costs for infrastructure/manpower and lack of infrastructure, companies are looking at other destinations including Trivandrum which has now established itself as a major IT investment destination.    Mr Mervin Alexander explained that Technopark truly provides single window clearance including granting of building permits  which is not being done by IT Parks in China and un-interrupted quality power to the companies and other support facilities and services.  Mr Syed Ibrahim, Managing Director of Palnar Transmedia proposed formal vote of thanks.  Technopark and company officials were present for the meeting.
